Summerfest 2009

Last weekend John, Lynsie, and I headed to Summerfest in Stayton. It was gonna be a hot day, so we headed over around 10 a.m. to walk around. It wasn't much different from last year, although it seemed the car show grew a bit. We had a good time, Lynsie scored a balloon, and we'll see if I win anything in the Rotary Ducky Derby Race... probably not, I'm not THAT lucky. Ha! Anyway, it was a good time and a way to get out of the house.

Later in the evening we enjoyed the annual Summerfest BBQ at City Administrator Don Eubank's house. It was a good time and I now look forward to the YUMMY food that is there every year!

Here is a slideshow of the day (plus an extra photo of our broccoli eating cat Darby). Enjoy!!

The Past Week or So...

Earlier this week, with the blazing heat I decided we needed a pool mommy and daddy could utilize too. The three of us in Lynsie's little baby pool... well that just wouldn't be pretty! We are now adequately prepared for the impending heat wave about to hit us. HAHA!

Pretty Flower Friday

Today I thought I would showcase my beautiful butterfly bush, which is blooming in all it's glory right now. The hummingbirds are going crazy, enjoying the pink blooms and playing and chasing each other around it. It really is fun to watch!

Our giant butterfly bush that is becoming a bigger monster every year... it's crazy how big this thing gets!

Now, if you look closely you can see the hummingbird... they are so hard to catch a picture of. They just move TOO fast!

Have a great weekend & stay cool!!

House Painting

Finally, our house has been painted and gosh, wasn't that a lot of work? HA! No, not really!! The color change will take a little getting used to but we really like the new color... even Lynsie seemed happy with it. We painted the house a navy blue color with a khaki colored trim. The biggest difference is that our garage was white before and is now the color of the house... I think that is what will take the most getting used to. New Life Painting did an excellent and FAST job (minus the plants they crushed or broke... which I'm sure wasn't on purpose but I should have probably warned them to be careful of my poor $30 bush that we almost lost this past winter and I was nursing back to health... that will take me a while to get over *sigh*). Anyway, I would recommend them and have their contact info for anybody interested. Just be sure to warn them to be careful of any plants you are partial too!!

Goofy Girl

John just sent me a text message with a picture of goofy Lynsie making her "silly face"....

In other news, our house is being prepped and painted today! So exciting! The painter came over yesterday evening and pressure washed the house and as a bonus, pressure washed the concrete so it looks all nice and pretty against the new paint he is putting on today. We are going from a brown house to a navy blue house. He put up a bit of the color on the house last night so we could see what it will look like, and it looks so nice. Stay tuned for before and after photos... :o)

Post 4th of July Fun

Since the weather was still pretty hot on Sunday, I took Lynsie out for a little fun in the sun and water again. She had a ball... again... of course not AS much fun since her buddies weren't there. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment:

The Best 4th of July EVER!

You know your 4th of July was a success when your little one agrees it was the best day of her life. LOL! What a fun, fun day! Our first annual 4th of July BBQ was a success. So much fun was had by all and we are so glad everyone could make it and enjoyed themselves. I hope next year everyone that missed out is able to attend as well.

The festivities began around 5 p.m. with all our family and friends arriving. The kids took off right away for the baby pool and sprinkler and didn't stop running till they went home. John began BBQ'ing at 6 p.m. and I'm not sure when he stopped... he was a machine! We had cheeseburgers and brats, along with salads, chips, fruit, etc. Oh, and don't forget dessert!!

Around 8:30 p.m. we did the big fireworks extravaganza for the little ones as at this point they were wilting quickly. While most of the fireworks I purchased were pretty cheesy, we did have one winner which was called "Iced Out". That one was worth every penny of the $6.99 I spent on it. Here's a picture of the winner firework I snagged off the web so I don't forget for next year:

After the fireworks finished up, Lynsie was SOOOO tired and ready for bed. Once she was snuggled up in bed with Ming-Ming and her blankie, John and I headed back outside to watch the Stayton Fireworks display from the bed of his truck. It was pretty cool and we were now thankful the neighbor's tree had died as we had a perfect view through their dead tree branches. We would have had a harder time had their tree survived whatever they had done to it to kill it since last summer. ;o)

All in all, it was a great day and I can't wait to do it again next year!!

Disclaimer...

NOTE: If you received one or two emails saying a new post was published, I apologize. For some reason Blogger messed up on me this morning and I'm quite annoyed. It also somehow erased all the blogs I follow and I'm now having to load them back into blogger. Grrrr!!

Updated 9:20 a.m.: Just found out that blogger isn't working correctly and many of us with blogs won't be able to see who we are following but it will be restored today hopefully. Annoying still!

Happy (almost) 4th of July

This morning Lynsie had an impromptu photo shoot. Usually she literally runs from the camera when I pull it out because she would rather see the "baby" on the camera screen then let me take an actual picture of the "baby." So, today for some reason she was into it as long as I showed her the baby on the screen after I took the picture. She was really hamming it up. It was quite hilarious! She was pulling out poses left and right... the over the shoulder pose, the leg lift pose, the cheesey pose. Lynsie Jean is definitely a natural. HA!

Here is a slideshow of what went down this morning...
